tun|dra «TUHN druh», noun.
1. a vast, level, treeless plain in the arctic regions. The ground beneath the surface of the tundras is frozen even in summer. Much of Alaska and northern Canada is tundra.
2. any one of various tracts and areas similar to this, as certain plateaus in the Andes and elsewhere.
